Dimension Ratio (DR) Explained for PVC Pipe

Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association released a brief to help explain Dimension Ratio (DR), which is an important but often misunderstood concept for PVC pipe. Some of the confusion arises because of the use of both “Dimension Ratio” (DR) and “Standard Dimension Ratio” (SDR) in product standards.


Below are dimensions for three sizes of DR18 PC235 pressure pipe. As OD increases, the wall increases proportionally so the dimension ratio of 18 is maintained.
